Recording in Nashville

When in June 2018, 8Ball Aitken put the concept in my head, that I could record my next album in the USA, I was pretty set on the idea. Nashville is one of the biggest music capitals of the world, and not just for country music. Still it seemed like such a far stretch to record in a place so far away from my home town of Brisbane, Australia. So I worked hard and saved enough money to fly to the USA and record the beds of 12 tracks with some amazing musicians and producers.

From left to right: Dennis Holt (drums), Michael Flanders (engineer, assistant producer), Lecia Louise (artist, guitarist, singer, song writer, co-producer), 8Ball Aitken (producer, song writer) and David Francis (bass, chart writer, some acoustic guitar).

I had a bunch of tunes I had already written. 8Ball Aitken and I also co-wrote some new songs for the album which was fun. We put a lot of time into song writing leading up to the sessions. In two full days we tracked drums and bass for 12 songs. I came back in to Michael Flanders’ studio for two afternoons to finish recording acoustic guitars and guide vocals.

The songs range in styles from rock, blues and soul with guitars, melodies and lyrics being the centre point. There are flavours of Led Zeppelin, John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Jimi Hendrix, Chrissie Hinde, Credence Clearwater and Santana. The team I recorded with in Nashville have worked with some amazing musicians and artists including Taylor Swift,
Buddy Miller, Trick Pony, Niki Webster, Ross Wilson, Troy Cassar-Daley, Luke Combs, Pam Tillis, Tricia Yearwood, Lee Roy Parnell, and many more. It was great to get a blend of their experiences weaved through out my songs.

8Ball Aitken

8Ball Aitken is a musician, song writer and producer who has been a world touring artist for 16 years and has played across 18 countries. He has played more than 300 festivals Australia wide including Byron Bay Blues Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Blues on Broadbeach, Sydney Blues Festival and more. He has also played festivals across the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.

8Ball Aitken will be releasing his 11th album soon!

A prolific song writer and multi award winner, 8Ball Aitken has written and recorded with rock royalty Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock), shared the stage with Australia’s beloved, Troy Cassar-Daley and opened the stage for Dr. Hook on their Australian tour. I have been lucky enough to share the stage with 8Ball Aitken many times over the last few
years and I am sure we will for many more.

Let’s Jam!

While I was in Nashville, I wanted to check out the music scene and join in. I found some awesome blues jams to be a part of and met some wonderful players. I must say, I have made many new friends which have now become family.  You can check out any previous photos posted on my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/lecialouise.

Next Step

The next step is to finish these recording sessions back in Australia, focussing on tracking all the electric guitars and vocal parts. Meanwhile, I need to save up enough money to get the album mixed, mastered and promoted. A few singles will be put out leading up to the album’s release. Please keep an eye out on my website and social media to hear these
songs and it would be wonderful if you share them. To keep in the loop, leave your email address below and I will send you updates on the album’s progress.

If you would like to donate to the completion of this album, any contribution, small or large is very welcome and appreciated. Simply click here or on the donate link below and write down the number you wish to give. Thank you xoxox
